Goals / OKRs

Objectives + key results.

One row per item, the plainest possible view.

A goal at zero in September with a November target is a decision waiting to be made.

What it does

Behaviours, not fields. Choosing between two modules is choosing between these.

A measure and a current value, because a goal without a number is an intention.

Current against target is the only comparison that matters, and it is the default view.

A goal at zero with two months left is a decision waiting to be made, and it looks like one.

How it works

  1. 1

A goal is stated with a measure and a target, and refuses to be saved without both.

  2. 2

The current figure is aggregated from the module that holds it rather than typed.

  3. 3

Current against target is the only comparison shown, because it is the only one that matters.

  4. 4

A goal at zero with weeks left reads as a decision waiting to be made, which is the point.

Best for

Reading and scanning. It is the right default more often than it looks.

Not the right choice for

Comparing many fields at once — use a table.

What a row holds

Every field, and what the agent listens for to fill it — which is the difference between a page you type into and one that fills itself.

FieldTypeFilled from
GoalrequiredtextThe outcome, phrased as the thing that will be true.
MeasurerequiredtextHow it is counted. A goal without a measure is an intention.
NowrequiredtextWhere the number stands, aggregated from wherever it lives.
TargetrequiredtextThe number and the deadline. Both, or it is not a target.

What it does not do

A module chosen for something it cannot do costs more than one that was never offered.

  • No key results hierarchy — this is goals with numbers, not a full OKR system.
  • No weighting, so four goals are equally important whether or not they are.
  • Nothing cascades a company goal into team goals.
  • Quarterly rhythm is assumed; an annual goal shows very little movement per check.

Before it works

What you have to provide, if anything.

  • Needs a module that actually holds the measure, or Now has to be typed and will go stale.
  • Set fewer goals than feels right. Four is a lot.

In practice

A business with four stated aims for the year and no way to check them.

Fifty subscribers by November.
What was said to the agent

What the agent built

A goal with the measure, the current figure and the target.

What changed

It was still at zero in September. The goal was dropped deliberately rather than quietly missed, which freed the quarter.

Questions

What data does the Goals / OKRs page use?

It reads goal records the agent has collected. Objectives + key results. Nothing has to be imported first — the page appears once there is something to show.

Do I have to build or configure it?

No. You describe what you need in a sentence and the agent chooses the view and fills it. Custom pages exist for the cases no built-in view covers, and those are reviewed before they go live.

When is a list the wrong choice?

Comparing many fields at once — use a table. It is best for: reading and scanning. It is the right default more often than it looks.

Does it stay up to date?

Yes. The page is a view over the data rather than a copy of it, so anything the agent learns afterwards shows up without a rebuild or a re-import.

Ask for it in a sentence

You do not configure this page. You tell your agent what you need and it builds it from what it has already collected.
