Media directory

All images/video/audio.

Images at full width, arranged to be looked at.

Mixed types on purpose — this is the drawer everything goes in before it is filed.

What it does

Behaviours, not fields. Choosing between two modules is choosing between these.

The drawer everything goes in before it is filed, which is what stops assets living in an inbox.

Tags rather than folders, so one file can belong to the shoot and the product at once.

Searchable by tag and type, which is the only way to find one image among four hundred.

How it works

  1. 1

Files arrive and are stored with their type detected, before anyone decides where they belong.

  2. 2

Tags are added when convenient rather than required at upload, which is what stops uploads stalling.

  3. 3

Search covers filename, type and tags together.

  4. 4

A file that turns out to belong to a collection can be moved without losing its tags.

Best for

Photos, generated packs, anything where the picture is the content.

Not the right choice for

Records that happen to have a thumbnail — that is Cards.

What a row holds

Every field, and what the agent listens for to fill it — which is the difference between a page you type into and one that fills itself.

FieldTypeFilled from
FilerequiredtextThe filename as uploaded. Kept rather than tidied, because that is how people search.
TyperequiredtextPhoto, video with a duration, or vector. Derived from the file itself.
TagstextFree tags, so one file can belong to the shoot and to the product at once.
AddedrequireddateWhen it arrived. The fallback ordering when nothing else applies.

What it does not do

A module chosen for something it cannot do costs more than one that was never offered.

  • Tags are free text, so shopfront and shop-front are two tags.
  • No duplicate detection — the same image uploaded twice is two files.
  • No usage tracking, so nothing says which assets are actually used anywhere.
  • Storage is not unlimited, and nothing here prunes.

Before it works

What you have to provide, if anything.

  • Nothing. It is the drawer things go in before a decision.
  • Agree three or four tag conventions early, or the tag list becomes its own problem.

In practice

An agency accumulating assets from six clients at once.

Here are the shopfront photos from this morning.
What was said to the agent

What the agent built

Files added with type and tags, findable that afternoon rather than after a folder decision.

What changed

The shared drive stopped growing. Finding last year window shots took seconds instead of an appeal to whoever took them.

Questions

What data does the Media directory page use?

It reads media records the agent has collected. All images/video/audio. Nothing has to be imported first — the page appears once there is something to show.

Do I have to build or configure it?

No. You describe what you need in a sentence and the agent chooses the view and fills it. Custom pages exist for the cases no built-in view covers, and those are reviewed before they go live.

When is a gallery the wrong choice?

Records that happen to have a thumbnail — that is Cards. It is best for: photos, generated packs, anything where the picture is the content.

Does it stay up to date?

Yes. The page is a view over the data rather than a copy of it, so anything the agent learns afterwards shows up without a rebuild or a re-import.

Ask for it in a sentence

You do not configure this page. You tell your agent what you need and it builds it from what it has already collected.
